Well, my time is here! Thank you so much for your support and help since I've received my call! It's been a long and eventful 5 months. Originally I was put out that I had to wait so long until I could leave, but I wouldn't trade any of the things I've experienced since reading the sweet words "Dear Sister Summers..." The Lord works in mysterious ways- I'm just glad His plan for me is so much better than my own :)
Anyway, since I leave on Wednesday I thought I would give all y'all some contact info. PAY ATTENTION! There are several ways you can contact me:
#1 THE POUCH
The pouch system is used by the Church that delivers mail to all missions every week. In order to use the pouch, your correspondence (i.e. letter) must be only one side of a single page, folded in thirds, and then mailed to church headquarters with a single stamp. It has no envelope. Here's the guidelines for using pouch:
"Lay the letter blank side down. Fold the bottom of the letter about one-third of the way up the page and crease. Fold the top of the letter to the bottom of the first fold and crease. Secure the long side with two pieces of tape about one inch in from each end, but do not seal the ends. In the top left corner write your name and complete return address. Affix first class postage (e.g. liberty bell or American flag stamps that say "forever" on them) to the top right corner."
Once you've done that, write the following address in the middle:
Sister Xochitl Elizabeth Summers
Russia Novosibirsk Mission
POB 30150
Salt Lake City, UT 84130-0150
Using the pouch system will get mail to me within a couple weeks.
#2 DEARELDER.COM
While I'm in the MTC, dearelder.com will print your letters and send them to me the same day that they were written. While I'm in the mission field, I will get your mail about the same time as regular pouch mail. The cool thing about using dearelder is that your letter is typed and sent to your email so you can remember exactly what you said. Also, using dearelder is completely free for my whole mission, so please take advantage of that!
To use dearelder, go to dearelder.com and click "Pouch (FREE)" on the left-hand side. In the drop down box, select Russia Novosibirsk Mission. Enter my first and last name in the center boxes and your return address in the left hand corner boxes. Write your message in the big white box and click "send letter" once you're ready.
#3 EMAIL
Email is quick and reliable, but I may not be able to get back to you depending on the amount of computer time I get. My email address is [email protected]
#4 MISSION HOME
I wouldn't recommend sending regular mail to the mission home, but any packages that you want to send need to be sent to the following address. It will take 3-9 weeks for things sent to the mission home to be delivered to me. The mission home address is:
Sister Xochitl Summers
Russia Novosibirsk Mission
46 Kirova Street
Novosibirsk
Novosibirsk oblast 630102
Russia
As my mission continues, there may be changes to my contact info. Please look at the side bar to your right for more information about my current whereabouts.
See you in 18 months :)
